Now that summer is arriving most webmasters believe that having a proxy is pointless, students are surfing from home and earnings are bound to plum it below the bills. After running proxies through a number of summers, i have come to terms with a couple of diffrent options available for us individuals who believe our proxies are still worth something.
Monetizing Your Proxy
Realistically this is what all us webmasters are here for! Regarding monetizing a proxy there are many different approaches you can take. Listed below is a set of well knows advertisers that allow for their ads to be placed on your proxy. Be sure to read their TOS though as some only allow ads in certain places and not on proxied pages.

Google Adsense is seen to be the primary choice for advertising for most publishers. Good money can be made via Adsense though its ads can only be placed on your main index page and sub pages. Proxied pages cannot display Adsense ads due to Google’s strict TOS. This is due to the fact that as advertisers maybe mistaken as endorsing any content your visitors might browse to with your proxy.
Free Advertising
As promised, todays post is on free advertising. Whats better than getting free traffic when you though nobody would even visit your site. Hopefully, using the following tips provided by me, you will be able to benefit from the world of free advertising and reek the profits. Be advised though, getting traffic isn’t done with a simple click. Clever thought out pick up lines and around as much free time you have available should be used ultimately all to attract traffic towards your proxies.
Google and Yahoo Groups
Using Google and Yahoo groups is one of my favorites. Using this method drives free, targeted traffic towards your proxies. What else could you ask for? To put it simple, the following lists provide you with already built up groups that are free, quick and easy to post in. Some may require a login to Google or Yahoos email service but joining the group maybe compulsory to have to post your proxy link. It is advised you dont over do this with spam. Post once a week and you should be good. Read More
Paid Advertising
Generating traffic is the single most important thing to do with proxies apart from having a good reliable host. Traffic will eventually become what makes you that all important money so be sure to try your hardest. Just like any other website, building traffic is hard, though the demand for working proxies are always pretty high especially during school and work time so this make it a little easier for us if we are able to get our proxies out to those who need them. The prime time to start up proxies are obviously during the school periods as this provides you with a fantastic opportunity to have traffic flying into your sites.
Hosting A Proxy
Most webmasters who already own a proxy will tell you that finding a reliable proxy host is that hardest thing to do when starting up a proxy or network of proxies. To hit the nail on the head, if you are serious about starting up proxy sites, my advice is to buy either VPS or a Dedicated Server due to the server resources needed. Whats this terminology i hear you ask? Good question:
- VPS - Virtual Private Server, basically virtual private servers bridge the gap between shared web hosting services and dedicated hosting services, giving independence from other customers. VPS servers offered by hosting companies are often totally customizable. This means any form of server can be made, adding Gigs of RAM and bandwidth to help your proxy run smoother and to essentially keep it online.
Domain Names
Possibilities - .com .net .us .info .org …
The two top domain name registers are know as;
1. Go Daddy
2. 1and1
When choosing a domain name for your proxy it is important that you keep in mind several factors that relate to both a normal website and a proxy website. It is now well know that having words related to ‘Proxy’ are now easily and automatically filtered out by schools and corporations. This means buying a domain with the word proxy or anything similar in it will most likely already be blocked.
Therefore many people decide to use domain names that have no relevance towards the word proxy and instead depend on advertising bringing them traffic instead of the simple to remember name. You must always keep in mind the target market that the domain name may bring in. It is most likely that teenagers at school or people at work will be using the proxy most, therefore it is logical to pick a domain name that is easy to remember and short if possible.

The What’s and Whys?
By definition, “proxy” refers to a person or agency who has authority to act for another. So, taken literally, does that mean a “proxy server” acts in place of another server? Let’s check it out.
Ultimately yes, when using a proxy, the user is allowed to browse blocked websites via their browser using an unblocked website first. (The Proxy)
The web isn’t as free as it was once made to be but that will never stop people wanting what they can’t have. For example, individuals at work wanting to get to blocked websites such as popular social networks and pornography and students in school wanting to visit there favorite websites are often blocked by admins but filtering through a proxy allows them to do so. It is also well know for countries and ISP providers to block websites out using filters but these filters can be bypassed by using a proxy too.
